Proverbs 24:16-18 "For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him"
I know over the past week, there are many that have rejoiced over the death of Osama Bin Laden. While I will admit, I do find some sense of justice knowing he is no longer with us, I also find sorrow in this. I understand that even when I look at it in the Scriptural sense, it falls under what the Lord would say is appropriate. Not that I empathize with his cause or think he was in the right - I am far from that, but it still saddens me.
I find sorrow that so many have died at his command. I feel sorrow for the men and women who have given their lives to this point to fight in a war because (in part) of his actions on 9/11. How many of those innocent people are burning in a devil's hell right now because they were not ready to meet the Lord - that part angers me because I don't want anyone to burn in Hell. It was not created for them, it was created for Satan and his angels.
It is amazing at what hate and sin will do to a person. We live in a sin laden world who chooses to not look to the things of God.
I look at the life of bin Laden - unless he accepted the Lord as his savior - he is burning in hell as well. While some may think he deserves it, how many people have looked at their own lives and realize in all truth - *I* deserve that place. I deserve to spend eternity in Hell when I die.
“Grace is what God gives us when we don't deserve and mercy is when God doesn't give us what we do deserve."
I think about the fact that when Jesus was on the cross, I was on his mind. Yes - me. I am a simple, unimportant gal to many, but *I*, Lora, was on his mind. I find such comfort and joy knowing that. Then the reality of - When Jesus was on the cross, Osama bin Laden was on his mind. He died for him as well.

God has a sense of humor
After posting my blog and laughing at the two dogs showing up on my back porch with all this rain....On my way to church last night, I witnessed the biggest brightest rainbow I have ever laid my eyes on. All I had to say is - Thank you Lord for your promises. While I know my area might flood, He has promised us that He will not flood the world entirely again.
Genesis 9:13-17 "I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth."
The promises of God are sure and true. There are so many promises in the Bible that the Lord has committed to us.
Joshua 1:9 "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
No matter the darkest of days, He is with me. This is my life verse. I always go back to this when I am struggling with any situation.
Ephesians 6:2-3 "Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth."
In this day and age, it is evident that our children fail to honor their mom and dad's. Some parents I am sure it is hard to honor, but it is without excuse - we are commanded to honor them regardless. I really think this is why so many of our children die at such a young age.
2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Psalm 40:1 "I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry."
James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
Of the many promises He has provided us, He has an expectation from us. Seeking Him. Asking Him. Honor them. What is keeping you from obtaining those promises of God in your life?

The rain....
Day in and day out, we have been experiencing excessive amounts of rain. For weeks (it seems) it has gone on and on. Rain, Rain go away....Do I start building my ark??? I did have my neighbors two dogs on my back porch yesterday morning when I woke up (Seriously! Both their dogs were scratching at my door wanting to come in.) Does Lowe's carry gopher wood these days?
It can be truly depressing that the sun is hidden from view. Especially when the rain keeps falling and the days are filled of gloomy, gray clouds thrown across the sky. It has finally dawned on me that regardless of what I can see from my place on this earth, the sun is still shining. The clouds are blocking my view just seeing it. If I could go on a trip and fly some where, I would surely see the sun shining once we broke through the clouds. Or if I could climb atop a very high mountain...then I could get above the clouds and catch a glimpse of what seems to avoiding the entire midwestern part of the United States.
This reminded me of the countless times in my Christian life that I have experienced times that I cannot see God from where I am standing in my life. There are things that have blocked or clouded my view. Usually it is out of my resistance to seek him long enough to find him from the most effective position I can seek. Or perhaps I was wallowing in the pit of self pity. There are times I have felt discouraged or downhearted over a person or circumstance and just not been able to touch Him. However, at all points and times in my life, I can look back and see His almighty hand at work. He has never NOT been in my life since I accepted him as my Lord and Savior. I am just not at a vantage point of where I am to see Him.
Deuteronomy 4:29 "But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul."
The problem has never been the Lord not being there, often times it is my own failure to seek him with all of my heart and all of my soul.
Once I fall to the place where I find him best....on my knees....I soon find him. It is as though those rain clouds break way into much sunshine.

So do you want to go to heaven?
I have not written a blog in a very long time, but perhaps I should start doing this again. For years I written about all the things I used to do that were well, not pleasing to the Lord. Well two years ago today, I rededicated my life back to Christ and my life has not been the same since!
I can truly say without hesitation, God is so good!
Romans 3:10
"As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one"
Romans 3:23
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"
Romans 5:8
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:12
"Therefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned."
Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 10:9-11
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, whosover believeth on him shall not be ashamed."
Romans 10:13
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
